March 2010
Well here's some fresh news. Since the beginning of this year I didn't put much new paintings on the web and some could think that I was getting lazy while waiting for better days. Or, as my inspiration ran dry, I put myself in macrame or playing the " boules lyonnaise". Well no, not even.
I'm currently illustrating a book for children writen by Y. Gilardino "Comme un cheval au galop" and it takes me nicely all the time I usually devote to painting. I hope this work will bring all the satisfaction we can expect from this kind of business and collaboration. ... And further, I imagine that this will inspire others to offer me illustrate their production. In the meantime I give you an illustration from this future book.

Travel to Vietnam: "Vietnam in 30 days" ~ Summer / Fall 2009
The image was taken from the "travel book" drawn during my vietnam tour in july 2009.
July 5: Take off for Asia with the intention to draw a picture everyday. Every trip I say this but now that's for good! Finally, I hope
August 8: Back already, I'm coloring all sketches made during our tour of Vietnam and to write descriptions and anecdotes related. I'd like to eventually see this work published and distributed, if possible. If you have any ideas...
September 30: The coloring is complete. It still to rework, to edit, to revise, to rewrite all texts writen there.
October 7: The "Travel to Vietnam" is finished. I ordered today a beautiful impression to get a clean demonstration copy . A copy that I intend to present to a maximum of people to retrieve comments, criticisms and maybe more. Is this a good idea? I try to convince myself.
October 24: That's it, I get the book I had ordered in a single precious copy. I am not best placed to take a objective look at the subject ... but overall it is not bad and I'm satisfied. Now I must submit to anyone willing to take a look above it. Do you?
Early November: The reactions were quite positive and enthusiastic when I present the travel book. Maurice, an friend who is editor advised me anyway to change the title a bit too light. After some hesitation between "Vietnam Nola" and "30 days in Vietnam", the second choice prevails.
Mid November: Finding a publisher for a book of travel is not obvious. I am not Titouan Lamazou or Hugo Pratt and to have a book out is not an end in itself, yet it must be known and sold for at least balance the costs involved. The noise of the hammer is never far from the noise of the presses.
After careful consideration, I decided to embark on self-publishing the book "30 days in Vietnam. What does this mean? I intend to print 300 copies of my book of drawings and distribute, disseminate, sell by myself and with your help if you want But always on the good advice of Mr Maurice, I'll start before this step by the launching of a subscription to a wider circle of friends and acquaintances to try to partially finance the costs of printing and measuring credibility of the whole project. This subscription will last until late January 2010 and you will, if you sign up to be among the first to discover the book which will be printed later. "30 days in Vietnam" a book 20x20 cm full-color 56-page will be priced at 20 € plus 2 € postage. I need at least 100 pre-orders to go forward ... Where the subscription would not yield the desired result by the end of January, sales would obviously be refunded in full.
